Imprinting

Imprinting is a particular form of learning that takes place in a specific period of life (usually immediately after birth), called the sensitive phase or critical period, after which imprinting can no longer be achieved throughout life; the information fixed by the imprinting is remembered all life long. The animal that has undergone imprinting either from members of the same species, or from different species or even from objects, is called imprinted.
